STEM learning should be joyful, accessible, and free

STEMgarten was built for a Girl Scout Gold Award Project. I believe that every child deserves hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math experiences — no expensive curriculum required.

Mission

This website offers free, classroom-tested STEM lesson plans for kindergarten through grade 5. Every plan is designed to spark curiosity, build critical thinking, and make learning feel like play. I believe the best STEM education happens when kids get their hands dirty — literally.

Always free

Every lesson plan on STEMgarten is free to download, forever. No paywalls, no subscriptions, no sign-up required.

Hands-on first

Every lesson centers on an activity kids can touch, build, mix, or code — not just read about.

Teacher-tested

Many of our lessons have been tested in a teaching environment. If it doesn't work in a real classroom, it doesn't make the cut.

Inclusive by design

These lessons use everyday materials so any classroom or home can participate — no lab equipment or tech budget needed.

The origin of STEMgarten

I created STEMgarten in 2025 as part of a Girl Scouts' project after realizing that many local elementary students were not being exposed to STEM subjects in a fun, hands-on way. I also realized that many STEM lesson plans were locked behind a paywall or difficult to access.

I decided to rectify this issue by designing and teaching a few engaging lesson plans at my local schools and libraries. I then created more and made this website to allow others to use them.
